Bush's Trojan Horse
I watched the World According to Bush last night and I am consumed with my inability to understand why the citizens of the US are unable to see what's going on or to care about it. I remember watching the German chancellor ask Bush on his visit to Europe "where is your evidence for an invasion of Iraq?" and thinking, finally one person capable of identifying the naked emporer. I was reassured that somehow Europeans still had eyes to see, ears to hear and brains capable of rational conclusions, but then they allowed Wofowitz to become the head of World Bank!! But the worst thing for me about the documentary last night was that Richard Pearl lives in the south of France! Now that may not mean anything to anyone else but to me it means that nowhere, even the wonderful south of France is safe from being polluted by these people. Which brings me to Bush's Trojan Horse, our illustrious leader - we need to wake up and realize that we are not safe from these people either. Canada's next election will decide if Canadians can be suckered by the propoganda, fear-mongering, selective use of so-called facts and utter disdain for its citizens that has already begun in our beloved country.

I'm afraid you're right, it has already begun to creep into our country.
I have always been astonished that the US citizens couldn't see what they were voting for...I was amazed that Canadians seemed to follow suit in the recent election.
I understand the 'whys' of not voting for the Liberals, but to do so at the expense of the country is mind boggling.
The conservative agenda is disguised in snappy sound bites, that the masses seem content to consume. The key to the next election will be to force debate on the important issues. I want to hear about the environment, foreign policy, etc., not saving 2 cents on a coffee!
Susan,
I share your thoughts on this, but to be fair, the American electorate has had very little to choose from in recent years. The Dems have tried to be all things to all people and have been relagated to "protest vote" status. Also, if you look at the way the system has morphed in recent decades, redistricting and all, there is very little chance of things to change greatly in the future.
We're stuck with it down there and have to fight it at the borders to keep it down there, I'm afraid.
