Again the Doublespeak
Today Flaherty said the budget was not going to be about cuts. Had he meant there will be no cuts (except of course those to the RCMP wages and any others we just don't know about), he would have said it, but he vagued it out for obvious rasons. Watch for the semantics: he is not going to use the word cuts, but instead words like 'efficiencies, redundancies, caps on spending' etc.
By the way did the opposition get to look at the figures? Why is there profound silence on that score? And where is the serious consultation?

No, they didn't. Brison was on the show Politics on Fri. & stated that they have received nothing. There were supposed to be more meetings with him, McCallum & Flaherty but each time B & M contacted Flaherty's office for the meetings there was NO response, no reply.
Oh yes, it seems the "spirit of cooperation" touted by Harper numerous times is, as usual, non-existent.
Wow, where is the Liberal response to this, shouldn't Ignatieff be putting this out there so that he has more flexibility in his response come budget day?
Watch for the Tories to try to dump the stimulus problem on to the provinces and municipalities, in two ways: reducing payments to those levels of governments, and offering matching expenditures (if the provinces do not spend their share, the feds won't).
Didn't they promise not to reduce payments to the provinces?
