The Tide is Turning

Howard is gone and Bush and Cheney are on their way. That just leaves Mr. H. and maybe he will be gone even before Bush. Soon it will be a "sunny day in the neighbourhood". Wonder how Sarkozy will play it? We are in for very interesting times.

I'm not sure that the politics of the various countries are actually linked in any way as to be indicative of a shift in politics amongst Western countries. Does Canada have a Conservative government because we are more conservative than we used to be, or is it because of various Liberal scandals? If the U.S goes democrat, is that because they are more liberal than they used to be, or is that because of the Republican incompetence over their time in office? It seems like what we can draw from national politics in terms of more general ideological shifts is kind of limited.

Well I saw an interview with Sarkozy before he was President and a point of contention he had with the U.S. was they were not taking a position of leadership on climate change. So I'm not sure if Sarkozy should be thrown in with Harper, Howard, and Bush.
