Harper's Agenda & Elections Canada

By their fruits shall ye know them - well what are Harper's fruits? - dysfunctional committees, de-stabilized arms length institutions, downsized and disempowered federal departments and an economy teetering on the brink. These are not unfortunate consequences, they are Harper's intended outcomes, aspects of his overall goal: to reduce the scope and power of the federal government. And I suggest that he's delighted with his Elections Canada strategy - to ultimately weaken yet another central Canadian institution while pretending to be the victim.

bruce - I can't believe you guys - you're all spin, no facts Here are some facts: Art Hanger (conservative) walks out of committee every time something comes up he doesn't like, the cons are trying to appoint committee chairs rather than have them chosen by committee as they are supposed to be, there has been a conservative filibuster going on for months in the committee that wants to look into the cons in-out scheme. Where are your facts?

The nuclear commission disempowered so they can deregulte the industry, elections canada so they can have american style money buys votes election system, remove the department of environment employees so that they can put in con hacks who will allow Harper's oil guys to pollute without censure - where are your facts?

Economy - I guess you haven't heard about the Governor of the Bank of Canada's description of our economy's future - check it out - more facts. In 6 months the cons policies are going to come home to roost.

The cons don't know how to govern.
