The Word "Family"

The way the conservatives use the word "family" all the time suggests the need for analysis - the latest use in their anti-environment fear paper labelled "Blah Blah Blah for Canadian Families and Businesses". I think the cons owe it to Canadians to define the word "family". What is the minimum number of people required to constitute a family and what is the necessary relationship between those people? If they include singles, then all Canadians are "families" so why use the word? If they don't include singles, then does that mean that people like Jason Kenney, John Baird and Peter Van Loan are not a priority for this government. Or is it just like so much coming out of this government - pure propoganda? And if so, what are they hoping to accomplish?

As a Conservative with a family let me explain the concept to you.

I have a mother, father and five siblings.

Some siblings are married and have bleesed me with nieces and nephews. Some are single, some are married. All family.

I am married, three children. None married, 2 sharing homes with a partner. All family.

A single son at home. Again family.

Oh no. Those conservatives have actual families. It isn't some foreign concept.

We are just like real people, that must really blow away all your pre-conceived notions about all us knuckle-draggers!

You know what else my family includes. People of different cultures and probably sexual orientation. Never really thought about it, it is irrelevant.

I have found so-called 'progressives' to be more 'regressive' than the norm on 'Family.'

Maybe you should just go ask mom or dad,a brother or sister, grandma, grandpa, cousin, aunt,or an uncle. You may be surprised when they state that big brother government really has very little to do with your genetic makeup/family,unless of course you are a liberal ,then you would have to consider the family dog.

So then why not just say that conservative policies are for Canadians and not Canadian families?

So, if you "don't" have children you don't fall into the family category. If you dont' have children you are NOT family and DON'T get any tax break. Hey, but you are obliged to pay for the education of real families with children on your property taxes.

Fair huh?
