Only the Press wants Dion to resign? I am anxiously going to be reading your blog 6 months from now. Lets see if Dion is still Liberal leader or another has been from the Liberal party.

I was at the Kennedy event after he won and everyone there wants Dion out. Time for a new, young, anglo leader!

I am a liberal who would not, could not vote liberal in this election because of Dion. Thus, I will not renew my Liberal membership until Dion is banished. I will not make a donation to Liberal Party until Dion is banished.

Well anonymouses, if you really are Liberals, perhaps you're part of the reason Dion's back is full of stab scars. Clearly, as many Liberals in Ottawa have demonstrated, some are more comfortable with the enemy (Jane Taber comes to mind) than they are with their own.

If only a leader willing to replace a democratic caucus with a Harper style can bring party discipline, then Canada will suffer. Dion asked everyone to put their shoulder to the wheel, and many out of self-interest or pique did not. Well some day it will be their turn to watch their back.

Susan, this is the Liberal party. It has always been a "lose and leave" party and Mr. Dion knows that. He failed the party on far more than just Tuesday night's ballot count. The video of all those critical votes when the Liberal seats sat vacant is enough to warrant his departure. Mr. Dion has shown that he's no match even for Stephen Harper.

Mound of Sound, it was always the senior Liberals that wanted the empty seats during the votes; it was Dion that wanted to go to an election long ago. They sabotaged him because, he's too left for them.

Wait a second, Susan. He was the leader of his caucus and, beyond his obligation to consult and seek consensus, it was his call when to force an election or when to ensure that his caucus showed up to vote. I don't buy these apologies. If he can't lead his caucus, he certainly can't lead our party.

Mound of Sound, the way I understood it, they basically said if you call an election now we won't be ready. I agree he could have said well, get ready because it's happening, but I think he really wanted to achieve a certain level of consensus and do politics differently.
