It's the Economy Stupid

If the Liberals had allowed through their mismanagement a $58 billion deficit, the cons would be hammering away every day, frothing, ranting, hollering and all Ignatieff can say is that the Liberals will clean up the mess (like they always do). The cons gave away $10 billion annually in GST revenue - that's $30 billion so far, took an approximately $8 billion surplus and put it on the long-term debt, and passed a law requiring all future surpluses go on the long-term debt. Their economic stupidity caused the deficit. Lowest interest rates ever but the long-term debt is more important than people's livelihoods!

So let's look ahead if that's what Ignatieff wants to do - either way, the average Joe will suffer more as either the cons do a hatchet job on federal programs (their ideological intent anyway) or the Liberals do what? I know the Liberals don't want to reveal their plans (I am trusting they have some) because Mr. H. always steals them and calls them his own (because he doesn't know how to govern) but why not at least talk about increased revenue and not always cuts to spending - and I don't mean taxes - I mean a new way of looking at the economy, innovation - by the time this recession is over India and China will be even stronger and we'll still be thinking in the 20th century box.

When Chretien says something, everyone says "oh he promised not to say anything" but he speaks for a reason and he was on the mark in his recent comments about Canada's shrinking role in the world.

First off he never "gave away" $10 billion, it's the tax payers money and thats who got it back. Secondly, paying down a debt is not "economic stupidity", it lowers the interest payments therefore freeing up more money. Suggesting that paying down a debt is economic stupidity is economic stupidity.

Cutting the GST, corporate taxes without reducing spending is economic stupidity. I'm not talking about the Conservative "slush fund", aka EAP, I'm talking about $300million on a useless, needless, election, the appointment of 27 senators, frivolous lawsuits (In/Out scandal), hiring of 2 US promoters to get the PM on American TV, placing of EAP banners on the websites of American papers, etc..

"..$300million on a useless,needless, election.."

Why? Because the Liberals got humiliated with thier worst election ever? Harper was trying to reform the senate but was having no help with the opposition or the provinces since it would take a constitutional ammendment. It would be political stupidity to risk going into an election with those 27 senate seats open, the senate is already heavily stacked in the Liberals favour. As for the promoters, Harper was trying to get Canada out of the buy America clause, witch he seems to be having success with, thats what real leaders do.

The whole country is suffering? Your being rediculous. You will have a hard time convincing the majority of Canadians the lie that the GLOBAL recession was caused by the Conservatives. Canada weathered the storm better than any country.

I am not a "true con" I am not partisan at all. So maybe you should look in the mirror for someone who has bought into the "spin". When you say things like "why are we all suffering" that either shows your ignorance to what is going on in our country or your partisan beliefs. Is there nothing you can give credit to Harper for doing? Or are you to partisan? The truth is I had high hopes for Iggy before he came Liberal leader, but so far other than his fundraising he has proved to be as incompetent as Dion. Iggy has not blown it completely for me yet but he needs to get back into the man he used to be. Until then I will continue to vote for the man who has proved he is capable of running our country.
