They can debate till they're cross eyed, they can beat their holy roller chests until they bleed and it will mean absolutely nothing. Women are and have always been in control of their own bodies. Legal, illegal, women will never allow others to dictate their physical lives unless that's what they themselves have chosen. Go for it you little tweebs, if that's your sense of manhood, and Real Women, go for it too -you're all irrelevant.

We Don't Need Constitutional Experts, We Have Skiiers
I am deeply insulted that an Olympic skiier somehow thinks she has a right to speak for Canadians on changing the constitution of Canada as it concerns the Senate. How can she have any credibility at all as she fancies herself the new senate reform expert?

Duffy's Tabloid TV Moves to the Senate and the Caucus
Wow Mr. Tabloid TV gets a new job, well-deserved from a con perspective. And looks like his move will be seamless - from fighting the coalition on air to fighting it in the caucus. You'd have to be superman to change your identity that quickly, so this anti-coalition thing must have been his real identity all along - ya think?
"Both Mr. Duffy and Ms. Wallin have agreed to join the Conservative caucus and have pledged to oppose the proposed coalition of opposition parties threatening to unseat the government next month." (from today's Globe)
What completely escapes me is how are they going to "oppose the proposed coalition of opposition parties threatening to unseat the government". Of course the conservative caucus is going to oppose being unseated, so how is their presence in the caucus going to change anything??
I know!! Duffy will call Jane (Taber) and she will find out from 'senior Liberals" what is in the offing and then she'll tell Duffy, and then he will tell the con caucus. They're so f... clever!

Now It's Town Hall Meetings
You know they're stalling when they actually want to talk to Canadians - hope Flaherty goes to those towns where all the workers have run out of EI and are having to sell their homes and their cars to qualify for welfare.
They're Faking It
Remember when these guys - Harper and Flaherty - did things they believed in - GST cut, attacking the wheat board, attacking the supreme court, attacking the senate, helping out the banks. What characterized their attitude then? Intensity, speed, assertiveness . . And now it's like watching a sloth, or trying to hear someone talking underwater. Their faking it, stalling for time - all they would have to do is send the 3 billion that's in the pipeline out to the municipalities that have their infrastructure projects ready - a letter, a contract and a cheque. Why aren't they doing it? Because they don't want to. Why are they saying all Canadians are going to suffer? Because they have no intention of helping. If everyone hadn't been looking for testosterone when they voted in the last election, Dion would have long ago finished consulting and a plan would be in ACTION.

Get Ready for a Coalition Government
Flaherty's key phrases today:
economy worsening month by month,
2009 is going to be a bad year for all Canadians,
it will be a conservative budget,
There you go:he just got it that the economy's tanking,
he doesn't give a shit about people hurting,
and he's going to stick to his right wing destroy-the country-crap all the way (just like he did in Ontario)
We're up the proverbial creek without a paddle.

Rationale?
Does anyone out there know why the government is sitting on the billions of $ already allocated to infrastructure projects? Incompetence, analysing vote potential per riding, doesn't really want to do them anyway for some bizarre reason?

Best Economic Management Guy
Harper's sequence of positions on the economy:
Canadian economy probably won't be affected.
Our economic fundamentals are strong.
Predict a razor thin surplus.
Oh maybe our forecast wasn't quite on the mark
And Now!!!
"The truth is, I've never seen such uncertainty in terms of looking forward to the future," the Prime Minister told CTV News in Halifax . . I'm very worried about the Canadian economy." (Globe and Mail today)
So now he's reached the point we were all at many months ago. Wow, way to catch up buddy.
So what ya gonna do - right, ask the Liberals what to do - good plan. They saved your butt on Afghanistan, and now they will have to be brought in to save the economy. You just relax and try and figure out who you're going to name to those cushy senate seats. The Liberals can take care of the important stuff.

Ignatieff Needs to be Out There
He should be making statements about the economy every few days - there's certainly plenty to talk about. He needs to be bringing out his team as Obama has. He needs to speak directly to the people of Canada before Christmas, a Christmas address so to speak. He needs to create some momentum, not just work away behind the scenes. He should be out there discussing a possible coaliton and other scenarios with Canadians. He needs to be doing everything Harper isn't. And somebody, assuming they all haven't gone away for holidays, should be showing signs of a coherent fundraising strategy.

Wow The Penny Just Dropped
If Harper is acting as if he might go down in January, then we can read between the lines that he knows he will not be putting out a palatable budget in January. Or in other words there's no bloody way he is going to give up his ideology to work with the opposition in a genuine way.
Harper's Priorities
Two headlines in todays' news:
"Risk of 'substantial' rise in home foreclosures: Bank of Canada"
and
"Harper to fill Senate vacancies before Christmas"
And we're supposed to believe he's working on the budget and cares about Canadians, while really he's just shredding documents pending his demise.

The Suckering Has Begun
On December 9th, 2008, the same day as the Harper so-called olive branch interview, this letter went out to the Conservative base. Some great quotes: for one "In yet another stunning and unprecedented demonstration of Liberal contempt for our democratic rights, they've decided to appoint a new leader in his place." I guess that would be the guy Harper phoned for ideas on Dec. 10th.

Conservative Party of Canada
December 9, 2008
Stéphane Dion has resigned as leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, and by extension, of the Liberal/NDP/Bloc Coalition.
In yet another stunning and unprecedented demonstration of Liberal contempt for our democratic rights, they've decided to appoint a new leader in his place.
Not only was the Liberal/NDP/Bloc Coalition not elected to govern this country , but the person who would become Canada's Prime Minister wasn't even the leader of a federal party during the last election and may not even be elected by the Liberal (or any) party's membership .
The Liberals have decided to parachute Michael Ignatieff into the position of Prime Minister, and one thing is clear: Canadians didn't elect this coalition to form a government , and they most certainly didn't elect Michael Ignatieff as Prime Minister .
The Liberal/NDP/Bloc coalition would be a disaster for Canada's economy, and for our democracy.Canadians need and deserve an elected government and a Prime Minister that will focus on the economy. In these uncertain times, that is the number one priority.
Please follow this link to make a donation of $200 or $100, and help us spread this message to Canadians. We need your help now to crack the coalition and put a stop to the political games in Ottawa before the Liberal/NDP/Bloc Coalition do even more damage to our democracy.Cracks in the coalition are already starting to show.
Members of the Liberal Party are already acknowledging that the Liberal/NDP/Bloc coalition was ill-conceived, undemocratic and potentially ruinous for Canada.
We need to drive that wedge home and convince Canadians of all political stripes that this Coalition does nothing but weaken our nation.
Make no mistake: Stephane Dion, Bob Rae, Michael Ignatieff, Jack Layton and Gilles Duceppe will continue to do whatever it takes to force their coalition into power.
From day one, the Liberals' backroom coalition has been nothing but a naked power grab.
Please follow this link to make a donation to help us crack this coalition and send the message that a democratic, duly-elected government will put Canadians' priorities first.
Yours Sincerely,
Doug Finley

P.S. – The Liberals were rejected by Canadians at the ballot box to govern this country – as were the NDP and Bloc. They are trying to seize power by making backroom deals and parachuting in a Prime Minister who didn't even lead a party at the last election.
Please make your emergency donation now and help crack the Liberal/NDP/Bloc Coalition."

Don't Let Him Sucker You Again
Harper's strategy is completely transparent: he's scared to death of the Coalition so he is trivializing the NDP and the Bloc, appealing to the ego of the Liberals, suckering the Liberals into "discussions" so that he can say he is working cooperatively and then he'll put out a budget that the Liberals will look stupid rejecting since he will have consulted them, and then, just like with the disastrous war in Afghanistan, the Liberals will have to wear it along with him. The NDP will be so pissed at the Liberals any future cooperation will be impossible and Harper will have everyone where he wants them, divided and conquered, and the bullying and taunting will begin all over again.
Make him put his cards on the table first, all of them! Or better still, just vote non- confidence in the throne speech.

Thank You
I will be forever grateful for the forward thinking and dedication of Stephane Dion - he brought me hope.
And thank you to Bob Rae who came out and spoke to us Canadians directly through the media and inspite of the media.
I will miss what could have been, and I hope Michael Ignatieff will be there for us as you both were.

As I Said He'll Never Change
He's sent all the parliamentarians away, locked them out, then he has his private interview with Mansbridge so he doesn't have to face the media and then he bullies Mansbridge - why didn't he just make another address from his war fortress, if he just wanted to say the same old shit? And Mansbridge, you were great at picking on Dion, how come you acquiesced to H. man?

Good on You Mr. Rae
I really like the way Rae answers the spin doctors at CTV and elsewhere. Today he surpassed himself when Taber asked him a particularly pernicious little zinger doing her usual referral to her inside Liberal sources (perhaps all one of them) and Rae responded with a zinger of his own, referring to her sources obliguely and saying "and perhaps one day you wil tell us who they are'. It was like a great fencing parry. Good on you Mr. Rae.

Did I Hear Right?
I thought I heard Craig Oliver say on CTV news that Harper told the GG that if she didn't agree to prorogue he would resign. Anyone know if that's the case?
He's Never Going to Get It
We don't need to listen to the PM anymore, he only has a few talking points, we know them all. He's never going to change. One day he'll be gone and I hope Canada is left standing when that finally happens. Even Rove and Chaney met their waterloo - let's just hope it happens here sooner rather than later.
Just for the Record - Alberta is Not the West
Albertans wanted in, they got in and they failed to act like Canadians, so there you go. They had their chance and blew it. Alberta = oil. BC is not Alberta. Alberta is not the West. Everyone needs to learn a bit more about Canadian geography, and for that matter politics. Right now the BC NDP is higher in the polls than the so-called BC Liberals.

Doesn't This Say It All
For all those Canadians that voted socialist and sovereigntist (in our language NDP and Bloc), this is what Stockwell Day thinks of you.
"It would be against my very DNA to do a coalition deal with socialists, and it would absolutely go against my heart and the heart of Canadians to do a deal with separatists," Day told the House on Wednesday, in reference to the current proposed coalition. (Stockwell day quoted at CBC.ca)
Guess they only govern for their own voters. Oh right I knew that already.

Squandering Our Money on More Ads
Too bad all that taxpayer money that's going into anti-coalition ads, research for more lies and distortions, and probably polling isn't going towards the $700 million f..in finlay doesn't want to spend on helping the unemployed.

Harper's Just Never Going to Get It
The lack of respect for duly elected MPs and for the citizens of this country who voted for them is astonishing: let's call the NDP a bunch of socialists (a la McCarthy) and the Bloc a bunch of separatists. Name calling - boogeyman stuff, he just can't seem to get past it. Everyone says Harper appeals to his base. Harper is his base and nothing else.
Great Things in the Works
It's going to be really interesting watching Harper be his usual sweet self in question period, helping everyone prove their point about his inability to govern. Lots of happy Canadians in the last few days. I just hope those 'senior liberals' don't mess it up by strong-arming Ignatieff into a role he hasn't won democratically. It's been Dion and Rae who have done all the work. I don't see why they can't leave Dion in the lead and surround him with the many strong Liberals he can draw on. Obama is putting together a seamless transition, surely the new leader of the Liberal party can do the same in May. What is it about Ignatieff that they are so crazy about? Rae is the doer, Ignatieff is always musing, another Martin. Doesn't he also have Martin's team? It's a time to be very careful.
